Monday Music - "Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy

"Almost" is worse than a "yes" or "no."

From the editor:

I almost acquired your story, but...

From the agent:

I almost took you on, but...

From the critique partner:

I almost believed this was plausible, but then...

From yourself:

I was almost good enough...

"Almost" is a difficult place to be. For anyone.

Say goodbye to your "almost" and try again.

  1. I love that song! And it's really so very true. Almost is much worse than yes or no.

  2. There used to be a gameshow on British television, and if the contestant lost the host would say 'here's what you could have won' and show him the grand prize.

That's our 'almost' phrase in this house. It doesn't make it easier, but at least we smile!

  3. Oooooh! This is a great concept...getting rid of "almost". I will keep trying.

  4. So true! No is so much easier. You get to just move on.

  5. I was almost good enough -- is the worst sentence in the world to think.

I am good enough -- should be the mantra followed by -- it's everyone else whose thinking is wrong.
