It's been a while since I watched a movie that really made me want to rec it on the blog, so I am very pleased to tell you all that yesterday The Hubby and I watched Gone and thought it was fantastic.
(Aside: We also watched Green Lantern last night with The Boy and... NO. Don't bother with that one. Just don't.)
Maybe I've just been in the mood for thrillers lately, I don't know. But this movie, you guys. THIS MOVIE. The word brilliant doesn't do it justice. I was literally pacing across my living room while watching certain parts because the psychological suspense is that high. It's a good thing we didn't watch this at the theater. The tension would have killed me.
I was also glad to see Amanda Seyfried redeem her acting career after the flubbity-dub of Red Riding Hood. She proved here that she can play adult roles, believably, without her coming off like a little girl playing dress-up.
But the main thing I loved about this movie was that her character kept you guessing all the way to the end. You could never really be certain whether or not she was crazy and the whole thing was in her head. I love that kind of psych trip a well-written thriller can put you on.
No movie is perfect, but this one was damn near close. So if you're looking for something to watch this weekend, check out Gone. And for anyone who has already seen it, what did you think?
